St John's Church

Do you have
some questions?

Whether you’re new to church, new to the area, or just visiting, you’re very welcome at St John’s!
We know visiting a new place for the first time can feel a little daunting, so we’ve put together some common questions and answers to help you know what to expect when you come through our doors.

About St John's

Our main service is every 2nd and 4th Sunday at 11am. We recommend arriving a few minutes early to get settled and meet a few friendly faces.

As a Church of England parish, our services reflect the traditions and values of the Anglican Christian faith.

Typically around an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes. Afterwards, we invite you to stay for refreshments and conversation with the community.

There’s no dress code — come as you are! Some people dress casually, while others prefer to be a little smarter. However you feel comfortable is perfect.

We enjoy a blend of traditional hymns and contemporary worship songs, led by Ruth, our keyboard player. Hymn books are provided, so feel free to sing along or just listen.

Yes, we would love to pray for you. If you have a prayer request you’d like included in a service, please email us at
[email protected]. All requests are treated with care and sensitivity.

Children are very welcome, but we don’t have special activities or a separate group for younger ones during the service. We do have a selection of toys at the back of the church.

We are a welcoming and diverse group of people — families, individuals, retirees, young adults — all at different stages of life and faith. Whether you’ve been coming to church for years or it’s your very first time, you’ll be warmly received.

Yes, St John’s is wheelchair accessible, and we have accessible toilet facilities available as well. If you have any specific needs, feel free to get in touch beforehand.

Yes! Throughout the year, we hold special services for Easter, Christmas, Harvest, and Remembrance, as well as occasional baptisms, weddings, and memorials. Keep an eye on our website or noticeboard for updates.

This is not a pay-to-pray church, and there is no expectation for you to give. If you would like to support the work of the church, there’s an opportunity to donate, but it’s entirely voluntary.

Our coffee shop is open on Saturdays and we invite the congregation to either volunteer or swing by as customers. It’s a lovely place to enjoy fresh coffee, homemade cake, and good conversation. All proceeds support the upkeep of the church. More information can be found at www.saintjohns.coffee

Not at all — everyone is welcome! Whether you’re exploring faith, visiting with a friend, or just curious, you’ll find an open, friendly atmosphere.

Yes! There are lots of opportunities to get involved, from helping at the coffee shop to helping with the service, or volunteering for events. Just speak to someone after the service or contact us at [email protected], and we’ll help you find the right place to start.
