We believe in the power of connection and fellowship

Inclusive and Welcoming for All.
Bringing people together in faith and community
Whether you’ve lived in Adlington for decades or just moved to the area, you’ll find a warm welcome here. We’re a small, friendly church where everyone matters—and where belonging isn’t about ticking boxes, but feeling at home.
What makes us different?
Deep roots
Built in 1892 to serve local farm and estate workers, St John’s has been at the heart of the Adlington community for over 130 years. Our “tin tabernacle” may be modest in appearance, but it holds generations of stories, memories, and moments of faith.
More than Sundays
From our outdoor coffee shop to seasonal events and community partnerships, we’re finding fresh ways to serve and connect with the people around us. Church isn’t just what happens in the pews—it’s about life shared, joy celebrated, and help offered when it’s needed most.
Larger family
St John’s is part of the Prestbury Parish with St Peter’s in Prestbury, and we work together to support faith, worship, and outreach across the wider area. We’re proud of our local identity, but also of the ties that link us to the broader Church of England.
Welcoming to all
Whether you’re a lifelong churchgoer or just curious, there’s a place for you here. We’re a small church with a big heart—and you’ll be greeted with warmth, not judgment.
Here when it matters
Whether it’s celebrating life’s biggest moments or sitting quietly with someone in grief, we show up with love when people need it most.
Weatherproof faith
Rain or shine, our corrugated tin walls have sheltered generations of worshippers—and we carry that same spirit of endurance in our community.
